Korea, China, Germany, Thailand, Turkiye and Mexico strike gold on final day of Chuncheon 2026 World Taekwondo Poomsae Championships

(Chuncheon, Korea)- Final Day of Chuncheon 2026 World Taekwondo Poomsae Championships. The Chuncheon 2026 World Taekwondo Poomsae Championships concluded in style, with six nations winning gold medals across eight events on the fifth and final day of competition.

Hosts Korea led the way with three gold medals, triumphing in the Male Team Junior, Female Team Junior and Female Team Under 60 events.

Jinsung Cho, Sa-Bin Lee and Gunhyung Lee secured the Male Team Junior title ahead of the USA trio of Whye Jing Ong, David Gil and Preston Park. Chinese Taipei and Hong Kong, China shared the bronze medals.

Korea added another junior team title through Yu-Na Kim, Dohee Kim and Yee-Un Kim, who finished ahead of Chinese Taipei in the Female Team Junior event. Hong Kong, China and Vietnam completed the podium with bronze.

The hosts’ third gold came in the Female Team Under 60 category, where Minhwa Kim,Miseon Kim and Eunjoo Kim took the title ahead of the USA. Hong Kong, China and Spain shared bronze.

China’s Yuxiang Zhu was crowned Male Under 40 champion after overcoming Denmark’s Benjamin Harder in the final. Malaysia’s Wei Yan Chew and Korea’s Hyoseok Choi collected the bronze medals.

Germany also celebrated individual success as Heekyung Reimann won the Female Under 65 title. Australia’s Carmela Hartnett took silver, with Austria’s Sabine Muller and Spain’s Beatriz Queiro Campos earning bronze.

Thailand’s Thana Kiewlailerd and Chutikarn Lapnitayapan claimed gold in the Pair Under 30 event, finishing ahead of Indonesia’s Muhammad Rizal and Kinara Abbabiel L. Komara. Iran and Turkiye shared the bronze medals.

Turkiye topped the podium in the Male Team Over 60 category as Teyfik Celik, Mehmet Orkan and Mustafa Yilmaz finished ahead of Korea’s Yongok Son, Ha Seong Woo and Hee-Do Kim. Mexico and Chinese Taipei took bronze.

The final gold medal of the Championships went to Mexico in the Team Over 17 event. Cecilia Lee, Josue Galindo, Eder Jezrael Cantero Moreno, Daniel Garcia, Luis Alfonso de la Mora Lopez and Dayra Mariana Comparan Luna combined to finish ahead of Thailand.

The USA and the Philippines rounded out the podium with bronze medals.

The last day of competition brought the curtain down on the Chuncheon 2026 World Taekwondo Poomsae Championships, concluding an outstanding showcase of Poomsae and setting the stage for the next edition, which will be held in Antalya, Türkiye, in 2028.
