September 7, 2026 (NYC)-Legend of the White Dragon Feeds Power Rangers Fans’ Hunger. Legend of the White Dragon is the latest release from Well Go USA Entertainment, and it is filled with thrilling action sequences. Legend of the White Dragon, debuting early on Digital September 22, before landing on 4K Ultra HD/Blu-ray™ Combo and DVD October 20.

Full disclosure- I never watched the Power Rangers; however, I was always aware of their popularity and their cultural impact. They have been part of the cultural and martial arts landscape since the early 1990’s. Additionally, I became very familiar with Jason David Frank, after his passing in 2021. He was beloved as the “Green Power Ranger“, and he was an accomplished martial artist in his own right, having earned Black Belts in multiple styles, including Taekwondo.
Legend of the White Dragon is a concept film, and posthumous release of a passion project of Frank’s that he was able to complete the filming of in 2021, but never lived to see the finished project. It is designed to serve the hunger of the maturing Power Rangers fanbase for a more adult treatment of the core material and concepts. While not directly being related to the Power Rangers‘ storyline it is clear that this is the intent, and it does a good job of accomplishing that end.
The film is a low budget sci-fi, action, martial arts film that incorporates themes of good and evil, as Frank’s character is forced to live in hiding due to the mistaken belief that he is responsible for a horrible massacre. A series of events fueled by a desire for revenge by his arch nemesis, as well as a power grab bring him out of hiding after three years and set up the main action and storyline of the film.
The film is clearly a passion project, featuring Frank, as well as some other Power Rangers Alumni. It has some good special effects and action. The martial arts’ choreography is probably the strongest feature of the film.
Mark Dacascos, martial arts action star, has a small but memorable role in the film, as well as martial arts sensation Amy Johnston (not to be confused with former Power Ranger Amy Jo Johnson) in a small role.
In addition to being a tribute to Jason David Frank the film pays tribute to the great, Michael Madsen, who appears as Frank’s father in a near cameo.
The story of the funding of the film is a testament to the staying power of the fanbase, the love for Frank, and the vision of Well Go USA. It started as a crowd funded project that materialized into a funded independent studio film. The sad thing is that the film sets up the possibility of some future installments that will likely never materialize.
I recommend this film. While there is something here for action and martial arts fans there is likely a greater appreciation for this film by Power Rangers and Jason David Frank fans.

Synopsis:
