
July 5, 2021 (Greenville, SC)-USA Taekwondo’s Grand Prix East Wrap Up Show. On June 25, 2021 USA Taekwondo’s Grand Prix East got under way in Greenville, South Carolina. This was the third (3rd) major Post-Covid event hosted by USAT in order to allow Taekwondo athletes to return to competition in Poomsae and Sparring in preparation for the USAT Nationals.
Marc Zirogiannis,Taekwondo Life Magazine’s host and editor in chief, attended the event as a USA Taekwondo Nationally Certified and trained Referee. In this episode Marc reflects on the event, its organization, and its execution. He discusses the current state of Taekwondo, and Taekwondo sparring, from the perspective of four (4) days of an up close and personal view of the action.
The Grand Prix events featured live competition of Taekwondo Kyorugi, poomsae, Sports Poomsae, Demo Teams, Board Breaking, and Freestyle Forms. Events featured Grass Roots and World Class Level competitors from around the United States.
The USAT Nationals (and now USAT National Fiesta Challenge) will take place in San Antonio, Texas commencing on August 3, 2021. The Fiesta Challenge will be for those competitors that did not participate in the Grand Prix events, and, therefore, are not eligible to participate in the Nationals. These two events will run simultaneously from the 4th-8th of August.
