USATaekwondoLogo2018_500x500August 5, 2019-  Join Coach Jim Haxton as he takes us on a behind the scenes look at the 2019 USA Taekwondo Nationals.   This year’s event took place in Minneapolis, Minnesota from June 28-July 4, 2019.  Coach Jim is the staff photographer for Taekwondo Life Magazine. Jim is a Marine Veteran, and Taekwondo Black Belt.  He is also the father of a nationally ranked sparring competitor, Jillian Haxton.

Coach Jim gives us a 4 day look at his trip to the Nationals. He provides his perspectives on the level 1 Coaching seminar he attended, a view of the weigh-ins, and his take on competition day.  Jim was ringside to coach his daughter at her first national Taekwondo tournament.

This interview provides a great overview of what occurs when 5000 competitors converge on a US city for a week of high level competition.   For those uninitiated, and experienced, in National competition he provides great insight. According to the USA Taekwondo website the 2019 Nationals is ” the biggest show in taekwondo!”

Coach Jim is a sparring coach at the YH Park Taekwondo Academy in Levittown, NY.  He trains at the YH Park Taekwondo Academy with his entire family, which consists of five Taekwondo black belts.
