Charlotte is First U.S. City to Host a World Taekwondo Grand Prix Event in over 30 years
May 1, 2025 (Charlotte, NC) -The World Taekwondo Grand Prix Challenge is a premier international event that plays a key role in the Olympic qualification pathway, giving athletes the chance to earn ranking points toward the Wuxi 2025 World Championships and ultimately, the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games. The event will feature Olympians from the Paris 2024 Games, including members of USA Taekwondo who train at the United States Performance Center (USPC) in Charlotte.
Sanctioned by World Taekwondo, the global governing body for the sport, this event is hosted in partnership with the USPC and supported by a broad local coalition committed to elevating Charlotte as a hub for international sport.
