How Much Fun is The Killer’s Game (2024)?

December 22, 2024 (NYC)How Much Fun is The Killer’s Game (2024)?.  A Look at The Killer’s Game, a highly charged action-comedy we are ending 2024 with.   Here is a synopsis and review of this Lionsgate release.

SYNOPSIS:

In the new action-comedy THE KILLER’S GAME, when top hitman Joe Flood (Dave Bautista) is diagnosed with a terminal illness, he decides to take matters into his own hands – by taking a hit out on himself. But when the very hitmen he hired also target his ex-girlfriend (Sofia Boutella), he must fend off an army of assassin colleagues and win back the love of his life before it’s too late.

REVIEW:

Critics got it wrong. The public response to film this was much better than that of professional movie critics because the public understood this one is supposed to be violent and silly and funny and not so believable. It does all of that really well. All centered around David Bautista-who is perfect in the lead role.

The entire cast of notable martial artists and action stars, together with the exotic locations, and the action throughout make The Killer’s Game a super fun watch.

The story is good, despite, stealing elements from the John Wick series; it is a fun watch.  The quick story is that Bautista hires assassins to kill him when he thinks he is dying- which turns out to be a big mistake.   There is no spoiler here, as the trailer tells us as such.

Ben Kingsley is fun in this one. Scott Adkins, Marko Zaror, the great Daniel Bernhardt, and Terry Crews are a great addition to the action here.

The movie starts off with action and violence and it continues throughout.  It is violently fun. As the story progresses we begin to play the game of wondering what each assassination scene will entail.  Bautista is not Keanu Reeves, but he doesn’t try to be.  He is highly watchable as Dave Bautista, assassin.

Like the John Wick and Nobody films, the music here is really fun and goes well with the film.

My biggest criticism is the use of digital blood that is not nearly as good as it should be for this size film. Aside from that, it was a great was to round our 2024.
