June 20, 2024 (New York, NY)– THE LAST STOP IN YUMA COUNTY Is One of The Best Films of The Year. Director,Francis Gallupi, masterfully tells the story of a depressed knife salesman who ends up in the midst of a modern Neo-western tale. This Well Go USA release hits broad release on July 16, 2024.
Synopsis:
While awaiting the next fuel truck at a middle-of-nowhere Arizona rest stop, a traveling young knife salesman is thrust into a high-stakes hostage situation by the arrival of two similarly stranded bank robbers with no qualms about using cruelty—or cold, hard steel—to protect their bloodstained, ill-begotten fortune.
Review:
The Last Stop in Yuma County (2024) is about as good an Independent Film as you will find. The Last Stop in Yuma County is a terrific, story driven, crime thriller. It is centered around a small, desert Arizona Diner and gas station that becomes the crossroads of a bank robbery hideout, and a dramatic hostage situation.
The characters and noir film production values are the strengths of this movie. In many ways it pays homage to older classic films like Psycho, Natural Born Killers, Albino Alligator, and Bogart’s The Petrified Forest.
The film’s Direction by, newcomer, Francis Gallupi is really sharp; he is, clearly, a student of great films and great filmmaking. The acting of everyone in the cast is great. Jim Cummings, as the Norman Bates look alike, is great. Richard Blake, a veteran of Rob Zombie horror, is terrific as one of the bank robbers. Jocelyn Donahue is majestic in the role of the waitress. Faizon Love steals every scene he is in. Quirky, smart, engaging, and with a great soundtrack. I highly recommend it.
The Last Stop in Yuma County is just good filmmaking, and well worth watching. I would see it in the theater if you can. The lighting, the atmosphere, and the music lends to an enhanced theater experience. Regardless, you should see it. The Blu-ray is filled with bonus features.
The music, like in many of Quentin Tarantino’s best films, plays out as a strong support for the film, the story, and the 1970’s setting.
Unlike many of Well Go’s films, this is not an import. It is a domestic film.
